Two-Step Evaluation Process
Project proposals are evaluated on their research quality and feasibility in two steps, first by the Internal Research Council and then by an External Research Advisory Board.
In the first step ...
...the internal research council evaluates the project outlines. The research council is composed of professors from the RWTH Aachen Faculty of Medicine and represents the research focus areas of the faculty.
Complete project proposals are created for those outlines that received the highest evaluation.
In the second step ...
... the external research advisory board evaluates the complete proposals and makes the final funding decision. The advisory board represents the focus areas of the IZKF Aachen and is made up of five German and or international researchers per focus area, who are not part of the RWTH Aachen Faculty of Medicine.
For each focus area, the advisory board can temporarily bring in three further evaluators from within Germany, abroad, or the industry.
