Guideline & Booking

 
  • No experiments may be carried out within the Core Facility without the approval of the Core Facility Manager and/or supervisors. The approval of experiments is granted only after the planned experiment, the goal and possibilities of the study have been discussed.
  • Requests for experiments and equipment reservation may be made by phone or by e-mail to the  Trained users can enter bookings directly into the booking calendar.
  • Trained users get access to separate booking calendars based on MS Outlook for the microscope systems and computers or the in-vivo optical imaging systems.
  • Direct access with "key card" to the microscope room is granted only to employees of the Core Facility and trained users and is determined by the manager. The same rules apply to the use of the in-vivo imaging system.
  • Prerequisite for the use of the Core Facility is the acknowledgement of the user regulations including the imaging fees and the recognition of the authorship guidelines of the Faculty of Medicine. Please sign the document "User and PI Agreement".
  • Access to the microscope room is only permitted after instruction in the S1 laboratory guidelines and the laser safety guidelines.
  • Access to the optical in-vivo imaging system is only permitted after an introduction to the S1 laboratory guidelines, optional radiation protection guidelines by a responsible person. The IVIS Lumina XR meets the requirements for a full-protection X-ray machine. Nevertheless, users must sign a declaration of recognition of the radiation protection guidelines for the use of the X-ray module of the IVIS Lumina XR.
  • X-ray irradiation of live animals is only permitted to persons who have sufficient qualifications in accordance with the X-ray guidelines of RWTH, RöV.
  • The responsible persons must follow the laser/X-ray safety instructions at all times!
  • For emergencies such as fire, the usual safety regulations and guidelines apply, as they currently apply in the premises of the UKA.
  • All work should be done between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. At other times, working in the facility is only possible with the permission of the Core Facility Manager and only for users who have received comprehensive training in laser safety and correct use of the imaging systems.
